gettyTHE BIGGER PICTURE
It has been an underwhelming summer of transfer business for the Bavarians, who signed none of Florian Wirtz, Nico Williams or Nick Woltemade. In fact, negotiations with Stuttgart for Woltemade have been extremely tough, with the 2024-25 DFB-Pokal winners standing their ground on demanding €65m (£56m/$75m) for the 23-year-old striker. On the other hand, there is an unsettling sensation that the Bundesliga champions have overpaid for Diaz, a 28-year-old winger who had just two years left on his contract.
