Lamine Yamal pays tribute to Barcelona legend by donning iconic shirt as wonderkid enjoys sunshine break after Euro 2024 success

The 17-year-old winger, who has taken the football world by storm, shared his admiration for Neymar in a poignant gesture that resonated with fans worldwide. The Barcelona prodigy was snapped wearing Santos' 2012 jersey with Neymar's name and number printed on the back of it. It was Neymar's final season in Brazil before he made the big-money move to Barcelona in 2013.

Yamal has openly expressed his admiration for Neymar on several occasions. The Al-Hilal star's flair and creativity on the field have greatly inspired the teenager and, after his heroics with Spain in the European Championship, the Brazilian congratulated him with a clapping emoji in the comment section of an Instagram post.

In recent interviews, Yamal had spoken highly of Neymar. He stated: "I have always said that Messi is the best player in history for me, but the one I liked to watch was Neymar. Neymar made me want to watch the games; he made me have fun. It was nice to see him play."

During Spain's celebrations for winning the European Championship, Yamal once again showed his admiration for Neymar by dancing in a style reminiscent of the Brazilian star and wearing an outfit similar to the 32-year-old.

Yamal is currently enjoying a well-deserved holiday in Greece to rest and recharge. As a result, Yamal will not be joining FC Barcelona on their pre-season tour to the United States, where the team is scheduled to play three friendly matches, including one against arch-rivals Real Madrid.
