Jurgen Klopp left 'shocked and devastated' after Liverpool title parade tragedy as minority investor LeBron James also posts emotional message

The Reds have been celebrating their coronation as the kings of English football in 2024-25. Arne Slot’s first season as manager, having inherited reins at Anfield from Klopp last summer, has seen Liverpool crowned Premier League champions.

A mass celebration took place in the city on May 26, as thousands of fans from across the country made their way to Merseyside. A joyous occasion turned sour when a car was driven into the crowd of people packing busy streets.

A 53-year-old man has been arrested, with 47 people left injured. Per the Independent, four of those are considered to be in serious condition, with four children among the 27 casualties that required hospital treatment.

Former Liverpool boss Klopp, who is back in England to take in the title-winning celebrations, has posted on social media: “My family and I are shocked and devastated. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who are injured and affected. You'll never walk alone.”

NBA legend James, who is a minority investor at Anfield, added in a post of his own - as he watched on in shock from the United States: “OMG!!!! WTH. My deepest thoughts and prayers goes out to everyone affected that attended @LFC Premier League trophy parade today! Such a senseless act!”

Police forces are not treating the incident as an act of terrorism, with further investigations into what went on and why now underway. Messages of support for those caught up in the terrifying ordeal have flooded in from around the world.
