  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Salah's expiring contract situation at Liverpool has been one of the biggest football stories in recent months, with the 32-year-old insisting both parties are "far away" from striking a new deal. Now, his old manager Klopp, who worked with the forward for seven years, has admitted he wants the Egyptian to stay at Anfield and that he is the Reds' "greatest striker of modern times".

    WHAT KLOPP SAID

He said: "I hope he stays. He is Liverpool's greatest striker of modern times. A fantastic human being. The best ambassador Egypt could have. A fantastic athlete."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Salah is on course to have his best-ever season at Liverpool but it seems like it could be his last. If the former Roma man does leave the Reds, he will go down as one of their greatest-ever players. Whoever replaces him will have an almost impossible task to hit the heights Salah has.
