  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Bellingham was sent home from Southgate's England squad earlier this week, still recovering from a knock sustained in early November. Los Blancos were reportedly frustrated that the Three Lions insisted on calling Bellingham up, but have already put him through individual drills after his return to Spain.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Bellingham suffered a partial dislocation of his left shoulder in Madrid's La Liga contest with Rayo in early November. Although he was named among the substitutes for Los Blancos' following fixture — a win over Braga in the Champions League — he didn't appear against Valencia.

  • WHAT CARLO ANCELOTTI SAID

In a press conference following his side's win over Valencia on Saturday, Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti was adamant that his star man couldn't play for England this international break: "He'll be assessed [by England]. If he didn't play today, he can't play with the national team. He'll do specific work on his shoulder. After the break he can play again."

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Bellingham is leading La Liga's Pichichi race so far this year, with 10 goals in 11 games. Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann is just behind him with seven.
