  • WHAT HAPPENED?

It is going to be a quiet January transfer window for the Reds as they are unlikely to go after Fluminense star Andre, despite being previously linked with a move for the player, according to journalist Ben Jacobs. He further claimed that the Premier League giants are also not pursuing Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha or Bayer Leverkusen's Piero Hincapie.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

It was strongly believed that Jurgen Klopp's side would go after the 22-year-old Andre, who is also wanted by clubs like Manchester United and Fulham. The player himself had earlier expressed his desire to move to England very soon as he told CBS Sports, "I watch the Premier League and it's a big dream to play there. I'm focused on finishing the season with Fluminense and realising our own dream of winning the Club World Cup. But my dream is clear, to be a Premier League player."

    DID YOU KNOW?

With Andy Robertson and Konstantinos Tsimikas out with long-term shoulder injuries, the Reds need a quality left full-back in the January transfer window. Hincapie, who can play as a central defender as well as a left-back, would have perfectly fitted into Klopp's side but it is unlikely now that the Ecuadorian would come to Anfield. However, the Reds have recalled full-back Owen Beck, 21, from his loan spell at Scottish side Dundee.
