Jamie Vardy injury fears confirmed as Cremonese 'wasted no time' getting new striker checked after Serie A debut

  • Vardy makes injury-hit Cremonese debut

According to a report by La Provincia di Cremona, Vardy came out of Monday's match against Verona with an injury. He came on in the 59th minute to replace Federico Bonazzoli. The focus is now mainly on the next league match: the one that Cremonese will play on Sunday afternoon against Parma at the Stadio Giovanni Zini. It would be Vardy's first home game. However, as things stand, it is not certain that he will take to the pitch.

Vardy remained on the pitch for about half an hour plus injury time at the Marcantonio Bentegodi. Without much luck, it must be said, as Cremonese were overwhelmed by Verona and only a great Emil Audero prevented defeat. After the match, the former Leicester star complained of some problems, specifically muscle fatigue. As a result, he underwent some clinical tests.

    Cremonese to exercise caution

The newspaper writes that, regarding Vardy's physical condition,"the club wasted no time in ordering tests to see if there is any problem." They added that "the results are currently unknown." We will therefore have to wait a little longer to find out whether Vardy actually suffered a muscle injury in Verona or whether it is simply fatigue that can be managed with a few days' rest and separate training.

  • Back on the pitch after four months

Vardy, after all, is no longer a youngster: in footballing terms, he is approaching the twilight of his career, as he is set to turn 39 in January. Not only that, but before being brought on as a substitute in Verona, the former England international had not played in an official match for almost exactly four months, since mid-May against Ipswich. That was also the last time he scored for the Foxes.

    Will Vardy play against Parma?

Vardy is now doubtful for the match against Parma on Sunday, considering the proximity of Davide Nicola's side's next league fixture. According to La Provincia di Cremona, Cremonese will approach this case with "extreme caution."
