AFPTHE BIGGER PICTURE
De Paul has amassed plenty of experience playing in different leagues, which makes the Serie A club more assured that he would fit in easily. Indeed, the Argentine spent five years in Serie A with Udinese, eventually captaining the side in 2020. However, it won’t be easy to get Atletico Madrid to sign off on the deal, as Diego Simeone considers De Paul an integral part of the squad. That said, Financial Fair Play and the need to balance the books might push the Madrid board to accept the deal for the right price.
Getty ImagesWHAT NEXT FOR INTER MILAN?
Inter Milan are heading into one of the wildest stretches of their season, with the Nerazzurri battling on two massive fronts - the Serie A title race and a spot in the Champions League final. Things are razor-tight at the top, with just a few points separating Napoli and Inter, and if they finish level, we could be in for a dramatic title-deciding playoff.
