How much!? Folarin Balogun unhappy with Arsenal asking price as West Ham join transfer race for USMNT striker

The 22-year-old striker was expected to be on the move before the 2023-24 campaign got underway, with the United States international eager to find regular game time in new surroundings. He is, however, still on the books at Emirates Stadium.

Balogun hit 21 goals while on loan at Ligue 1 side Reims last season – bringing him to the attention of clubs across Europe. Several sides are said to have expressed interest, but Arsenal are demanding up to £50 million ($64m) for the highly-rated frontman. That figure has risen by £10m ($13m), with The Mirror claiming that the talented forward is frustrated at being priced out of a switch.

It remains to be seen whether Balogun will get his move – especially as Gabriel Jesus is now nursing an injury at Arsenal – but potential suitors continue to emerge. According to talkSPORT, West Ham are the latest side to mull over an approach for the American – with Gianluca Scamacca wanted by Inter and doubts cast over the future of Michail Antonio.

Balogun is tied to a contract at Arsenal through to 2025, meaning that they are under no pressure to sell, but he has made it clear that he does not want another loan and would prefer to take on a completely new challenge for 2023.
