  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The Bayern boss suggested that the English forward had enjoyed the week of celebration since the club were crowned Bundesliga champions. Kane lifted the first trophy of his career and Kompany joked that by enjoying the success, Kane was not best prepared to start the final game of the season. Serge Gnabry was chosen down the middle from the off and Kane was limited to a place amongst the substitutes.

    WHAT KOMPANY SAID

Speaking to Sky, Kompany said: "This is his first title. The week may not have been as optimal for him as I would have hoped. But that's normal.

"I want us to start the game perfectly, with the perfect mentality and attitude. Harry had a bit of a difficult week. I don't want to take any risks and make sure we have full energy."

  • THE EXPLANATION

Playing a starring role this season and breaking his long trophy duck, Kane was perfectly justified in enjoying the celebrations that followed. While his boss may have preferred to have him fit and firing for the final game of the season, he could not be too frustrated with his star who has scored 25 goals and registered seven assists in the Bundesliga this season. If anyone deserves a heavy week of celebrating, it would be Kane.

    WHAT NEXT FOR KANE?

The Englishman will hope to come off the bench against Hoffenheim and add to his already impressive goal tally, but will not be too worried about a game that does not mean too much. Next month the Bavarian giants will fly to the United States to take part on the Club World Cup, where Kane will be determined to add to his trophy cabinet.
