Getty Images SportTHE BIGGER PICTURE
Roma were the first to express interest, but Juve have now entered the picture and are reportedly considering including Nico Gonzalez in the deal to tempt Al-Ahli. Kessie joined Al-Ahli from Barcelona in 2023 for €12.5 million (£10.5m/$14m) and has a contract until 2026. However, with no plans to extend his stay and a desire to return to Italy, the situation is evolving quickly. The Bianconeri see him as a potential boost to their midfield but must navigate a tricky financial situation, mainly his €18m (£16m/$21m) salary, which remains a significant hurdle.
Getty Images SportWHAT NEXT KESSIE?
The Bianconeri are expected to continue talks with Al-Ahli over the coming weeks. If the Ivorian agrees to reduce his salary demands or if Al-Ahli contribute to the financial package, a return to Serie A could be sealed before the new season begins. Much now depends on how negotiations over both Kessie and Nico Gonzalez develop.
