WHAT HAPPENED?
Despite extensive talks with City over a possible loan move until the end of the season, The Telegraph reports Newcastle are unlikely to sign the midfielder as things stand. Newcastle would have to pay a large fee to take him on loan and do not want to have an obligation to buy him outright. The Magpies believe the deal would not make financial sense and will not sign him unless City change their demands.
