Is Erling Haaland's season over?! Man City striker sparks concern by leaving stadium in protective boot after ankle injury in FA Cup win at Bournemouth

The prolific Norwegian frontman was forced out of City’s FA Cup quarter-final clash with Bournemouth. He took in an eventful afternoon at the Vitality Stadium, with goal number 30 of the campaign recorded after seeing an early penalty saved by Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Haaland was replaced just past the hour mark after picking up an ankle problem. He hobbled from the field, making way for match-winner Omar Marmoush, and was clearly in some discomfort as he headed off for medical treatment.

Questions were immediately asked of how serious said ailment is, with the rumour mill going into overdrive after Haaland was spotted cautiously making his way to City’s team bus on crutches and wearing a protective boot on his left leg.

Fans on social media have been quick to suggest that Haaland’s “season is officially over”, while others have claimed that City are “doomed” after seeing their top scorer laid low – with “so many wrongs” being endured in a “season to forget”.

There has been no official word from City on how long their talismanic No.9 could be ruled out for. After booking their place in a seventh-successive FA Cup semi-final, Pep Guardiola’s side are due to play host to Leicester on Wednesday before then making the short trip to Old Trafford for a derby date with arch-rivals Manchester United on Sunday.
