WHAT HAPPENED?
The Brazilian outfit saw hackers gain access to their official website on Monday, allowing them to post erroneous updates. One of those saw two-time Premier League Golden Boot winner Haaland announced as a new arrival in Rio de Janeiro.

The article in question, which was published for the world to see, jokingly stated that Haaland had been acquired “after intense negotiations and a great effort from our board”, with the Norwegian’s signing said to be “a decisive milestone in the turnaround of our season”.

Globo Esporte contacted Fluminense for comment on the incident, with it confirmed that the site had been hacked. A user on the social networking site X has claimed responsibility for the attack, with the problem finally being resolved at around midnight.
