Enzo Maresca reveals Jamie Gittens has already joined up with Chelsea squad despite transfer announcement still pending ahead of £55m Borussia Dortmund exit

Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund agreed a deal that will see the winger head to the Premier League this summer, and he has already linked up with his new team-mates at their Club World Cup base in the USA. He was also spotted on the pitch following Chelsea's quarter-final victory over Palmeiras. That suggests an official announcement is only a matter of time.

After the 2-1 win, Maresca said: "Jamie was here tonight, he was on the pitch. And he will be with us probably one more day, two days more. And then he will go for a holiday and come back when we're going to start the new season."

Chelsea had hoped to sign Gittens in time to play a full part in the competition but a deal could not initially be struck. It is instead set to be announced ahead of the semi-final against Fluminense next week.

Chelsea are adding Gittens to a raft of attacking talent already in their squad. The Blues have already signed Liam Delap from Ipswich and Joao Pedro from Brighton this summer, with the quality and depth intended to ensure they can fight in the league and Champions League in the 2025-26 campaign.
