'Emotional' - Teary-eyed Ed Sheeran reacts as his beloved Ipswich secure Premier League promotion after 22-year absence

The British singer-songwriter, who is known to be an ardent Ipswich Town fan, became emotional after the club returned to the Premier League, ending a 22-year exile. The Tractor Boys comfortably defeated Huddersfield 2-0 in their final match of the season to seal second place in the Championship behind Leicester City.

After Ipswich's triumph, Sheeran took to Instagram to share his joy and he can be seen teary-eyed while celebrating in the video he posted. In the story, he wrote: "Back to back promotions. First time in the Prem in 20 years. Emotional, well done lads."

Kieran McKenna's side, who had only gained promotion to the second tier last season, has now achieved consecutive promotions to return to top-flight football after more than two decades. They performed consistently throughout the 2023-24 season and are now ready to rub shoulders with some of the best clubs in the world.

For now, McKenna and his boys will enjoy a well-deserved break before they return to training to prepare for next season's challenge in the Premier League.
