WHAT HAPPENED?
Rumours emerged regarding David de Gea's marriage after the Spanish goalkeeper signed for Fiorentina this summer. The 33-year-old lived with Spanish singer and actress Edurne following his exit from Manchester United last summer but has since left her in Madrid after moving to Italy. However, Edurne insists there are no issues between the two, and that they are "more in love than ever", despite the long-distance relationship.

Speaking to Spanish outlet Vanitatis, as perThe Sun, she said: "We are doing very well, we are very happy and we have not separated and there is no crisis. I have already said that because every time we do something there is a revolution. We are happier and more in love than the first day we met.
"We have been like this for fourteen years. Distance is not a problem, we live our life at a distance because our work has required it. It has happened that his work is outside of Spain and mine is in Madrid."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Edurne has several commitments in Spain that prevent her from travelling with David to whichever club he is signed for. The 38-year-old is a TV presenter and judge on Spain's Got Talent, meaning a lot of her time is needed in Madrid. The Sun report that David turned down a move to Saudi Arabia as he deemed it too far from his family.

With David de Gea in the twilight of his career, it will likely only be a few more years before he hangs up his gloves and can settle down for good in Spain. Until then, he has a job to do for Fiorentina and put in a Man of the Match performance in his last outing as the Italian side advanced into the main pot for the Europa Conference League.
