Claudio Ranieri's replacement found! Roma close in on Gian Piero Gasperini deal after Atalanta exit

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, AS Roma have identified Ranieri’s replacement in the form of former Atalanta manager Gasperini. The report states that both parties indulged in a meeting this afternoon to complete the agreement and that Gasperini is on the verge of taking charge at Roma.

After a top-notch season with Ranieri, highlighted by a 19-match unbeaten run, Roma are now focused on appointing a new manager. Ranieri’s guidance helped the capital club finish fifth in Serie A, securing qualification for the Europa League. Gasperini, a seasoned coach with nine years and 439 matches at Atalanta, winning 228 of them, is the leading candidate. He notably led Atalanta to a Europa League title in 2023-24, making him a fitting successor to Ranieri, who will now serve as Roma’s sports advisor.

Roma will be Gasperini’s eighth managerial appointment since beginning his coaching career with Juventus’ youth team in 1994.

Roma will be Italy’s sole representative in the Europa League next season, alongside their participation in domestic competitions like Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
