Christian Pulisic advised to keep 'eye open' over possible AC Milan transfer exit as Brad Friedel tells USMNT star he MUST be playing in World Cup year

United States international Pulisic is tied to a contract in Milan through to 2027. Talks regarding fresh terms for the 26-year-old forward have dragged on for some time. There were reports to suggest that he was close to signing at one stage, but no deal has been completed.

Pulisic is said to be mulling over his options, with it vital that he buys into Milan’s long-term vision if an extended stay is to be agreed, and he was linked with teams around the world - including a few back in the Premier League, where he has previously turned out for Chelsea - over the summer.

There is plenty to be said for stability and continuity, with Pulisic rediscovering his spark in Italy, but a player of his ability deserves to be turning out at the highest possible level. Milan are a huge club, with a rich history, but find themselves without European football in 2025-26.

Asked for the advice that he would be offering Pulisic at this stage of his career, former USMNT goalkeeper Brad Friedel - speaking in association with Slotozilla - told GOAL: “It’s a huge club that is underperforming. I know he did well last season, but they finished eighth. If AC Milan are finishing in eighth, that means people are losing their jobs - which did happen last year.

“If I was advising him, I would be looking at teams in Europe and seeing what’s happening at AC Milan, for sure. I would make sure, especially in World Cup year, that my client is playing. He is playing, so that’s the best thing. But I think I would have an eye open somewhere else.”

Pulisic has registered two goals through four appearances for AC Milan this season, having found the target on 17 occasions last term. The Rossoneri have picked up back-to-back wins in Serie A, with head coach Massimiliano Allegri hoping that enough positivity can be generated that convinces Pulisic to stay put.
