WHAT HAPPENED?
The Blues' opening bid for Omorodion was quickly rejected by Atleti, who are awaiting a bid of at least £70m (€83m/$90m) for the 20-year-old, according to The Sun. That's a £28m disparity between their valuation of Omorodion and Chelsea's, so it's clear the two have some negotiating to do.

Chelsea's recruitment team has identified Omorodion as a talented young player with plenty of potential. And new head coach Enzo Maresca is also a fan of the Spain under-21 international, who spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Alaves.
DID YOU KNOW?
Maresca is keen to bring in a new striker in the summer in order to apply pressure on Nicolas Jackson, who scored 17 goals in all competitions in his inaugural Premier League season. The Blues have spoken to Newcastle and Aston Villa about Alexander Isak and Jhon Duran respectively, but the club won't be pushing ahead with a move for Isak.
