  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Sancho joined Chelsea on loan from Manchester United last summer, with an obligation for the Blues to buy the England winger in the summer of 2025. Despite a quick start to life at Stamford Bridge under Enzo Maresca, Sancho has struggled for form and fitness, and reports have suggested that the Blues are not too keen on keeping the once-highly-rated winger past his current loan deal.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

United and Chelsea agreed upon an obligation to buy Sancho for £25 million in 2025 when they agreed to the loan deal last summer. However, the deal is said to include a back-out option for the Blues as they would have to pay a set fee of £5 million ($6.4m) to get out of the commitment. The Athletic has now revealed that Chelsea are not yet considering opting out of the deal for Sancho as they are 'impressed with his professionalism and committed approach to training, as well as his work rate with and without the ball in matches'.

    DID YOU KNOW?

As per journalist Ben Jacobs, Chelsea are in no hurry to decide upon Sancho's future at Stamford Bridge and are going to make their final call only at the end of the season. The Blues are keen on adding a winger to their squad for next season with Mykhailo Mudryk's future uncertain.

  • WHAT NEXT FOR SANCHO?

Despite his lull in form, Sancho remains an option to count on for Maresca until the end of the season. The England international will be very keen on finally solidifying his spot in at least one team as he has been journeying around over the last three years.
