Chelsea and Real Madrid to do battle over Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen after remarkable rise on south coast

The youngster has impressed on the south coast this season. Huijsen made his debut for Spain in their 2-2 draw with the Netherlands on Thursday after his fine form for the Cherries. It is believed Real Madrid have been keeping tabs on the player, and intend to make a bid in the summer. Huijsen is a fan of Los Blancos.

However MARCA are reporting that Chelsea are keen on the young Spaniard too. The Blues have invested heavily in future stars over the past couple of seasons, and the 19-year-old would represent a continuation of that policy. However, MARCA believes Huijsen will only consider a move to the Bernabeu this summer.

Huijsen may have chosen to represent the Spanish national team, but he was born to Dutch parents in Amsterdam. He officially became a Spanish citizen in 2024, and made his full international debut against the country of his birth.

Huijsen is in line to start the second leg of Spain's UEFA Nations League quarter fianl against the Netherlands on Sunday. The youngster made his debut following a first half injury to Pau Cubarsí.
