Chelsea & Arsenal set for transfer battle? Blues join London rivals in showing interest in Athletic Club star Nico Williams

The Spain international has caught the eye this season, contributing a combined 15 goals and assists from the wing so far in 2023-24. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues have sent scouts to watch the 21-year-old and actually considered signing him last summer.

Williams' exploits in Spain this season might have convinced Chelsea to make their move when the transfer window creaks open once again, although they may face competition from London rivals Arsenal, who have also sent representatives to watch him in action.

Nico is the younger brother of fellow Athletic Club star Inaki, who is also enjoying a strong season on the opposite wing to his sibling. However, while Nico plays for Spain, Inaki represents the country of his parents' birth, Ghana.

It is going to be an important summer for Chelsea as they look to make some key improvements to their squad following what seems set to be another underwhelming campaign. Mauricio Pochettino's Blues travel to Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Monday night hoping to move out of the bottom half.
