  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The Los Angeles Chargers got some welcome news on Khalil Mack after his Week 2 setback against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Per NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, the star pass rusher suffered a dislocated elbow in the victory, but the issue won't sideline him for the season.

Instead, Mack is projected to be out only a few weeks.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Khalil Mack was forced out of the Week 2 win in the first quarter, later reappearing on the sideline with his arm wrapped and secured in a sling. With his recovery expected to span only "a few weeks." the veteran pass rusher could miss as few as two or three games, a stretch that includes showdowns with the Broncos, Giants, and Commanders.

Mack has logged one sack and four pressures through two outings this season, following up a 2024 campaign where he registered six sacks. Fortunately for Los Angeles, they have reinforcements ready to step up. The duo of Bud Dupree and Tuli Tuipulotu combined for 14.5 sacks last year, giving the Chargers some much-needed depth as they navigate this brief period without their defensive star.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHARGERS?

Los Angeles continues its divisional gauntlet in Week 3 with a trip to Denver before heading east to face the Giants in Week 4. The Chargers won’t see their bye until Week 12 in November, meaning unless there's an unforeseen setback, Khalil Mack should be back on the field long before the team’s midseason breather.
