The Brazilian looked a certainty to depart after coming under criticism last year, but his recent form has led Amorim to view the former Real Madrid man as a key part of the club's impending rebuild. Casemiro has played a particularly important role in the Red Devils' Europa League campaign, which has been the shining light in an otherwise disappointing season.

At 33 years old and with an outstanding career behind him, Casemiro's experience and leadership could prove invaluable as Amorim and his side will look to make a fresh start next season.

Man United will face Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final on 21 May, after Casemiro's two assists in the quarter-final and two goals in the semi against final hosts Athletic Bilbao.
