Bernardo Silva could follow Kevin De Bruyne out of Man City as former club Benfica open talks to bring Portugal midfielder home

Silva could return to his boyhood club Benfica this summer as the Portuguese side have opened talks with the player's representatives as well as Manchester City. His current contract expires in 2026, which has given hope to Benfica that they could bring the star player back to the club after more than a decade, according to A Bola.

Benfica boss Bruno Lage has already described Silva as a 'fabulous player' and a 'symbol' of the club. They will, however, have to sell a major player this summer before they can make a heavy investment in the transfer market. Silva's arrival could also mean that Angel Di Maria may leave the club. A final decision is yet to be taken on the Argentine's future, and president Rui Costa is expected to speak to the World Cup winner at the end of the season.

Silva's departure will come as a big blow for City, who are all set to bid farewell to club captain and ace midfielder De Bruyne. The Belgian confirmed earlier this month that he will depart the club this summer.

Silva and De Bruyne's City will be back in action in the Premier League this Saturday as they take on Everton at Goodison Park.
