- Real Madrid want him to extend until 2029
WHAT HAPPENED?
The 25-year-old Ukrainian, who stepped up as Real Madrid’s first-choice goalkeeper this season following Thibaut Courtois' ACL surgery, now faces a pivotal decision regarding his career. Ancelotti acknowledged Lunin's contribution this season as "fantastic" but hailed Courtois as "the best goalkeeper in the world" before the Champions League final, and started with the Belgian between the sticks ahead of the ill Lunin.

Currently, Lunin has just one year left on his contract with Real Madrid. According to Cadena COPE, the Spanish giants have offered him a contract extension that would keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2029. However, Lunin is carefully weighing up his options as many European elites including Arsenal have knocked on his door.
DID YOU KNOW?
Lunin's performances this season have been noteworthy. In La Liga, he played 21 matches, conceding 17 goals and keeping 10 clean sheets. His contributions in the Champions League were also significant, particularly his heroic efforts against Manchester City in the quarter-finals, where he saved two penalties in a shootout that propelled Real Madrid into the semis.

The decision about Lunin's future is likely to be deferred until after Ukraine's campaign at Euro 2024. Meanwhile, Arsenal's interest in Lunin is part of their strategy to strengthen their goalkeeping options. His ability to perform under pressure and his experience in top-tier European competition make him an attractive option for the Gunners.
With Aaron Ramsdale potentially leaving the club this summer, Arsenal are looking for a reliable backup to David Raya, who is set to join permanently from Brentford. Ramsdale, who only made six Premier League starts this season, is on Newcastle United's radar.
