WHAT HAPPENED?
Dowman entered the pitch in the 64th minute, joining Myles Lewis-Skelly and Cristhian Mosquera in a youthful Arsenal lineup. At just 15 years and 235 days old, he showcased composure well beyond his age, almost finding the net twice and winning a penalty in stoppage time. Viktor Gyokeres converted from the spot to round off a one-sided contest.

Speaking to the media, Timber said, "I think everyone can see the potential Max has. Playing against grown men like this is incredible. It's a joy to watch, for me it's a joy to watch. I hope he's going to have some amazing years with us.
"You have to look at the good things. He did well. You have to think about the things he didn't do so well. We have to make sure we're ready at Anfield."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Dowman’s debut puts him behind only Ethan Nwaneri in Arsenal’s history books as the youngest player to feature for the Gunners. With senior stars also stepping up, Arsenal appear to be blending experience and youth to devastating effect.

Arsenal continue their Premier League campaign with a trip to face Liverpool next weekend. Dowman will likely return to academy duty but could feature again later in the season. Timber, meanwhile, will look to build on his brace as the Gunners chase momentum at the top of the table.
