Arsenal keeping close eye on £50m-rated Joshua Zirkzee but face battle to land Bologna striker

The Gunners are looking at options to strengthen their attack to boost their Premier League title challenge, especially since Gabriel Jesus suffered another injury and Eddie Nketiah's future remains uncertain. They have been keeping track of the 22-year-old, The Telegraph reports, and could make a move for him in the January transfer window.

However, Bologna are ready to hold out for around £50 million ($64m) for the centre-forward, who signed from Bayern Munich last summer and signed a contract that runs until 2026. The German giants installed a release clause in his contract that only applies to them, meaning they could buy him back at a decent price.

Zirkzee has scored eight goals and provided four assists across Serie A and the Coppa Italia this season for a Bologna team sitting fifth in the Italian top-flight and in with a chance of qualifying for next term's Champions League.

The Gunners will continue their search for a new forward and could make a move for Zirkzee before the transfer window comes to a close at the end of the month. They are next in action on January 20 when they host Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
