  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Isak, 25, has reportedly told Newcastle United he does not want to play for the club again amid his preference to move to Anfield this summer. The Sweden international, who scored 27 goals in all competitions in 2024-25, remains Liverpool's primary target but an initial £110 million ($149m) bid was rejected by the St. James' Park club, who have insisted their star man is not for sale.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will return to Newcastle with a new offer but with the saga looking likely to continue, Wright - who scored 185 goals in 288 appearances for Arsenal - has now laid into Isak's conduct.

  • WHAT WRIGHT SAID

Speaking on The Overlap's Stick to Football Podcast, Wright said: "It doesn't look good. The behaviour? It's kind of shocking. It's shocking behaviour. I don't know what's happened with his agent, I don't know if his agent hasn't done the job properly – I don't know what it is and if Liverpool were going to get him, go and pay the £150million."

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Newcastle have missed out on several replacements for Isak in what has been a frustrating summer for the club. The Magpies made attempts to sign Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko but lost out to Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United respectively, while a £25m bid to sign Brentford striker Yoane Wissa was also rejected.
