2024 NWSL schedule: USWNT star Sophia Smith and the Portland Thorns visit KC Current's brand-new CPKC Stadium to open campaign

NWSL announced the slate of matches for the upcoming 2024 campaign, that will follow their opening game of the year, San Diego Wave vs Gotham FC in the Challenge Cup. The regular season will begin on Saturday, March 16 at 1 pm CT on ABC, with the match being shown on national television.

Both new expansion sides, Bay FC and Utah Royals, will also make their club debuts on the 16th. With the new NWSL media deal, which will see Amazon, ESPN/ABC, and Scripps Sports/Ion stream matches, will show matches on all three days and nights of the weekend.

What's more, though, is that NWSL has shared new details about a free streaming platform titled: NWSL+. The platform will be available in IOS and Andriod devices, while also being an app available on AppleTV, FireTV and Roku devices. Numerous regular season matches, 'secret replays' and more will be streamed for free.

Gotham FC won the 2023 NWSL Championship over OL Reign, with the Bats claiming victory via a 2-1 scoreline. They will be out to repeat the feat in 2024/25.

Awaiting the league is the Challenge Cup and NWSL Opening weekend, but in the buildup, there wll be preseason camp and matches. We're also likely to see a few move big-name moves, like the rumored deal that will see the Portland Thorns acquire Chelsea FC superstar Jessie Fleming.
