Former Oklahoma quarterback Jackson Arnold returns to Norman today as a member of Auburn as two undefeated SEC teams face off. Oklahoma (-6.5) could have an edge over Auburn, given the Sooners know Arnold well and are playing at home.

Auburn vs Oklahoma Picks
Mateer Madness - John Mateer 300+ Passing Yards (+235)
John Mateer has been one of the revelations of this NCAA Football season. Oklahoma’s QB, who transferred from Washington State, is one of the early favorites to win the Heisman trophy (+950).
He’s averaging over 300 passing yards per game and has four rushing touchdowns through three games. Oklahoma’s opponents today, Auburn, also allowed Baylor’s Sawyer Robertson to throw for 419 yards and three touchdowns in Week 1.
Given Mateer is also a fast runner, Auburn should have a tough time containing Oklahoma’s offense. Mateer threw for 392 yards in the first game of the season, and he’s capable of breaking 300 yards today. Go with John Mateer 300+ passing yards (+235).

Sooner Stifling Opponents - Under 48.5 Points (-120)
Through three games, Oklahoma has only allowed 19 points. Their defense has also allowed just 3.4 yards per play, which ranks fourth in the nation. Two weeks ago, Michigan came into Norman, and the Sooners held the visitors to just 13 points.
Auburn did manage an impressive 38-24 road win at Baylor to open up the season, but they haven’t scored as much as anticipated in their last couple of games. While the total has gone under in all three Oklahoma games this season, the under is 2-1 in Auburn’s games.
Oklahoma can shut down Auburn’s offense, especially with a familiar face, Jackson Arnold, under center. Arnold is averaging under 170 passing yards per game, and Oklahoma has only allowed 2.9 yards per rushing attempt.
In the vein of the Michigan game, which finished 24-13 in favor of Oklahoma, this could also be low-scoring. Take under 48.5 points at -120 odds.
- Auburn vs Oklahoma Pick 2: Under 48.5 Points @ -120 with FanDuel
Onward and Upward for Oklahoma - Oklahoma -6.5 (-114)
Oklahoma has been in a similar position recently. The Sooners hosted another ranked opponent, then #15 Michigan, in Norman two weeks ago and came in as 5.5-point favorites. Oklahoma covered, as they won by 11. The Sooners also covered in last week’s 42-3 win over Temple.
The last time Auburn went on the road to face a ranked opponent was in last season’s Iron Bowl, where the Tigers came in as 11.5-point underdogs and lost 28-14 to Alabama.
Auburn did cover the spread in their season-opening win against Baylor, but has failed to cover in back-to-back weeks. Plus, Oklahoma beat Auburn by six on the road last season, and the Sooners have a better overall team, with a defense that’s been playing at an elite level.
Mateer should once again show why he’s a Heisman candidate as Oklahoma takes care of business against Auburn. Bet on Oklahoma -6.5 (-114) in a game that may not be all that close.
- Auburn vs Oklahoma Pick 3: Oklahoma -6.5 @ -114 with FanDuel
Auburn vs Oklahoma Start Time
Oklahoma’s impressive 24-13 win over Michigan a couple of weeks ago is giving bettors confidence in their ability to beat Auburn tonight. It definitely helps that Oklahoma has one of the betting favorites for the Heisman trophy, John Mateer, as their quarterback.
