    WHAT WEIDENFELLER SAID

Speaking to Sky Germany, the former goalkeeper said: "Because now it's Borussia Dortmund's turn. They can play completely freely. [Madrid] is an absolute title machine, especially in the Champions League. Dortmund is not seen as the favorite. This is their big chance."

He added: "To some extent, luck is also a factor. A solid team effort is needed. You can't give Real any room - just like in the semi-finals against Paris [Saint-Germain]. You can't let the individual class of the Madrid players, such as Vinicius Junior, come to the fore. Then you have a chance."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Madrid are going in search of a record 15th victory in the Champions League on Saturday, while Dortmund will be hoping to lift the trophy for just the second time in the club's history. Weidenfeller was part of the 2012-13 Dortmund squad that fell short in the final against Bayern Munich. The Bavarian club won the fixture 2-1 thanks to goals from Mario Mandzukic and Arjen Robben.
