Portugal's Quim Out Of Euro 2008

The Benfica custodian, who is Scolari's second choice to defend the Portuguese goal, suffered a wrist injury in yesterday's training at Stade de Genève.

While it was initially thought that Quim would be fit to play on Saturday after proper treatment, he was then ruled out of Portugal's opening game.

At that point, the severity of the injury was still unknown - but he has now been ruled out of the entire tournament in Austria-Switzerland.

"Quim took a blow to his right hand, which he fractured," Jones told Lusa. "Even if the injury is not that serious it prevents the player from being able to retain his place and he will have to be replaced."

Sporting's shot-stopper Rui Patrício was the initial favourite to be drafted in, but Porto's Nuno Espirito Santo is now favourite to get the call to stand-in as Ricardo's deputy.
