Bobby Wood continued his summer of commitment this weekend as he signed a new contract with Hamburg, the club announced Saturday.
The American striker, who got married a few weeks ago, signed a new deal that ties him down to the club through 2021.

"Bobby is a modern, young striker, who has mastered the leap from the second to the first Bundesliga in the last season, without great difficulties adapting," Hamburg sporting director Jens Todt said in comments published on the club’s website.
"For us, not only his goals, but also his enormous running and operational readiness count. Bobby is a key player for our offense and a real team-player.
“We are delighted that he wants to continue his development with us and has extended his contract.”
After scoring 17 goals in the 2.Bundesliga for Union Berlin in 2015-16, Wood made the jump to the German top-flight with Hamburg and netted nine goals in all competitions for the club.
Speculation over his future arose in the spring as Hamburg was threatened with relegation and, though the club tried to tie him down to a new deal, the Bundesliga outfit admitted there was interest from other sides.
Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool and Everton were some of the clubs rumored to be interested in his signature, but Hamburg was able to save itself on the last day of the Bundesliga campaign and now Wood has committed to the club on a long-term basis.
