Betting: Morata set for Man Utd as Ibrahimovic's replacement

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic departed after one successful but ultimately injury-blighted season, Manchester United look set to make Alvaro Morata their new number nine.

The Real Madrid striker scored 20 goals in just 19 starts last season, with the majority of his appearances coming from the substitutes’ bench.

However, with rumours of a fee exceeding £60 million on the table from the Red Devils, the Spain international is now priced at just 1/6 (1.17) with Betfair Sportsbook to lead Jose Mourinho’s attack next season.

While he does now look set to move to Old Trafford, the drawn out nature of negotiations could offer a glimmer of hope for any other potential suitors.

Also in need of a new frontman with Diego Costa set to leave this summer, Chelsea are available at 8/1 (9.00) to snatch Morata from under United’s noses in a shock move.

Considering his successful spell in Serie A with Juventus, the 24-year-old would also not be short of offers from Italian clubs should the move to Manchester break down.

Currently undergoing an impressive period of transfer recruitment under their new owners, AC Milan can be backed at 25/1 (26.00) to seal their biggest deal yet by luring the Real Madrid man to the San Siro.GFX Morata next club bettingGoal

Alternatively, Juventus are priced at 33/1 (34.00) to re-sign a player whose services they enjoyed for two seasons between 2014 and 2016, although their already plentiful attacking options suggests a return to Turin may be unlikely.

While they would obviously enjoy the opportunity to get one over on their rivals, the chances of Liverpool 50/1 (51.00) or Manchester City 66/1 (67.00) hijacking United’s deal for the Spaniard seem rather remote.

Bayern Munich 66/1 (67.00) would probably have better luck in attracting Morata to Germany, while Sevilla’s chances of keeping him in Spain are rated at 100/1 (101.00).
