Butt urged Ratcliffe to give Amorim more time and stressed that United cannot expect to win the Premier League title this season or in the next couple of years. He said: "He needs time. I think the fans - the real fans that know football - will accept we're not going to win anything, certainly not a league for a good few years. We might be able to get lucky in a cup and sneak an FA Cup or something like that on the way, but I don't see us winning the league for a good few years. So as long as we're not in around the relegation zone worrying about that, give him time, let him settle in and don't give knee jerk reactions to two or three bad results, because we're still not there. Other clubs are moving forward. They don't stand still either. We can't expect Man United to go and spend 200 million and think we're going to win the Premier League, because Liverpool are spending more than 200 million, they're going up as well. City will be better this year. Arsenal are going to improve again. Clubs don't stand still. They always move forward. So it's going to take time."
