Why Real Madrid superstar Jude Bellingham missed England training ahead of Senegal friendly

England have confirmed Real Madrid star Bellingham missed training on Monday to attend a family funeral and returned to the squad later the same day.

The former Borussia Dortmund star was in the starting XI as England beat Andorra 1-0 last time out, being replaced by Morgan Gibbs-White late on after Harry Kane scored the only goal of the game. He is expected to be available for Tuesday's friendly, which is set to take place at Nottingham Forest's City Ground.

Manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka will start in the friendly against Senegal having missed the win over Andorra, while other squad members are expected to get opportunities to impress.

Bellingham is expected to get minutes in Tuesday's friendly but he won't have much time to rest before featuring in Real Madrid's Club World Cup games later this month. The Spanish giants are due to face Al-Hilal, Pachuca and Salzburg in the group stage.
