According toBild, Bayern want Kompany to sign a deal until 2027 rather than just a one-year contract. Incidentally, to go from preparing for life in the Championship to managing one of the biggest teams in the world is a remarkable turn of events. However, the 37-year-old is effectively the Bavarians' ninth choice for the job after the likes of Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, and Ralf Rangnick snubbed their advances.

Kompany began his management career at Belgian side Anderlecht in 2022 and after two years there he joined Burnley in the Championship. He led the Lancashire outfit to the Premier League at the first time of asking but they finished 19th this term to fall back to the English second-tier.
