Messi was back in the Inter Miami starting XI and back in the goals on Sunday as the MLS side beat Atlanta United 2-1. The Argentine, who continues to be a massive draw in the United States, also made a few waves ahead of the game as he accidentally stepped on a Barcelona shirt thrown by a fan and left it on the ground as he headed out for the warm-up.

Messi may be rather mortified when he realises what was thrown into his path. The 37-year-old has made no secret of the fact that Barcelona still holds a special place in his heart and that he is eager to return to Catalunya with his family to live once his time at Inter Miami is up. Messi won all the major trophies during almost two decades with the club and is Barca's record goal scorer after netting 672 in 778 appearances.

Messi and Inter Miami will be back in MLS action on Saturday when Javier Mascherano's side take on Philadelphia at Chase Stadium.
