  • WHAT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD SAID

The right-back is expected to confirm a free transfer to Real Madrid, having informed the club he will leave when his contract expires this summer. The announcement of his imminent departure sparked boos from Liverpool fans in his first game since, but he was given a warm reception when he stepped out in the famous red jersey for one last time.

After spending over 20 years with the club, it is clear he will miss Anfield, as he said after the match: "From the bottom of my heart I hope that one day the fans, supporters will recognise what I did for the team. There was never a minute I didn’t think about the team, since I was six years old, it’s always about Liverpool. To get the reception I got, means a lot for me… I never felt so loved! From the bottom of my heart, I hope the fans recognise the hard work I did over the years."
