Haji Wright was the hero for Coventry City Friday evening, scoring a double as they defeated Oxford United 3-2 on Matchday 2 of the Championship campaign.
Scoring their first goal of the 2024-25 season, the U.S. international put Coventry up 1-0 in the first half, timing his far-post run brilliantly, smashing home a header 14 minutes into the match.
After trading off goals to eventually see the match level at 2-2 with the final whistle looming, Wright arrived on the scene once more.
Seizing a defensive error, the 26-year-old intercepted the ball, rounded the goalkeeper in a 1v1, and slotted it into the net with seconds left, as his jubilant teammates rushed to celebrate.
