    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Tuchel told the England players that their aim is to win the 2026 World Cup as they gathered for the first time ahead of his first match in charge against Albania on Friday. Lehmann, however, has a pessimistic view of the German coach, citing the German's sacking at Bayern Munich as a reason to be sceptical.

  • WHAT LEHMANN SAID

Lehmann said on talkSPORT: "For me, he is not a traitor. For me, he is very lucky to get such a great job. There must be a reason why he's not with Bayern Munich anymore. It's very difficult to get sacked by Bayern Munich. But we are happy for him that he's the English coach now."

He added: "It doesn't make England more likely to win anything, but it's good for him.

"You have to look at Bayern Munich and how they played last season. Then you'll see it. If you understand football, you'll see it."
