  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Alexis Mac Allister has hinted his long-term future might not be with Liverpool as he has admitted that he would want to explore the opportunity to play in Spain one day, putting traditional LaLiga heavyweights Barcelona and Real Madrid on high alert. The Argentina international recently gave Spanish football fans a glimpse of what he's capable of when he scored Liverpool's opening goal against Real Madrid in the Champions League two weeks ago.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Mac Allister earned recognition at Brighton and Hove Albion, and earned a big-money move to Liverpool in 2023 following his commanding presences for Argentina from the middle of the park as the Albiceleste clinched the evasive World Cup trophy in 2022.

The Argentine international has become an increasingly pivotal figure under the management of Arne Slot, but the soon to-be 26-year-old's contract expires in June 2028. While Mac Allister is adamant that he is completely focused on Liverpool for the time being, he hasn't ruled out a move to LaLiga in the future.

  • WHAT ALEXIS MAC ALLISTER SAID

When asked by AS if he would be open to a move to Spain, Mac Allister said: "Yes, why not? It's a country I like a lot and I've visited it several times, and, above all, because of the language and the culture, it's very similar to Argentina. I would definitely like to play in Spain one day. But right now, I'm very comfortable at Liverpool and I don't think about what might happen in the future."
