WATCH: Son Heung-Min drops incredible assist to help LAFC seal 2-0 win over New England Revolution

Son Heung-Min made his first start for Los Angeles Football Club and continued to make an impact. The Korean star pulled the strings for the Black and Gold, and his late assist sealed three points against the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium on Saturday night.

Son nearly opened the scoring in the 27th minute, but sent his shot over USMNT star Matt Turner after failing to get a clean touch. The first half remained tight, with New England edging possession in a scoreless 45.

After the break, Steve Cherundolo’s side leaned on its strength in transition. Mark Delgado was left unmarked on a counter and capitalized, firing from outside the box to beat Turner in the 51st minute.

With stoppage time winding down, Son sparked another counter, beating his defender with a quick stepover before slipping a pass to Mathieu Choinière, who slotted home past the USMNT goalkeeper to double LAFC’s lead

It marked Son’s first MLS assist - and first win - with his new club. Son had two key chances created and four out of four successful take-ons to go along with his goal contribution. 

The victory moved LAFC to fifth in the Western Conference on 40 points through 26 matches. For Caleb Porter’s Revolution, the pressure is mounting, as they now sit 10 points behind NYCFC for the final playoff spot in the East.

Son has yet to play at LAFC's BMO Stadium and will have to wait another Matchday before doing so. The club has just two home matches through October - one against new rivals San Diego on Aug. 31 and then will another on Sept. 21 against Real Salt Lake. 

LAFC will travel to Frisco, Texas, to face FC Dallas on Aug. 23
