WHAT HAPPENED?
The Scotland international ended his two-decade-long association with United this summer to head to Antonio Conte's Napoli for €30 million (£25m/$34m). The 27-year-old is playing regularly for the Serie A side, seems to be thoroughly enjoying himself and admits he wants to have a "successful" career.

He told The Times: "Obviously it’s a big decision, there’s no denying that. It was a huge decision for me and my family and my friends. At times like that in your life you just have to say: ‘Do I want to do it? Absolutely,’ and go for it. There’s no looking back. I’ve never had any regrets in my life or my career and I continue that way to this day. I want my career to be successful and I’m going to go out of my way to try and push myself to be the best football player and best person that I can possibly be."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Despite having his best-ever season for United in 2023-24, McTominay was always going to be on the fringes at the Premier League side. But now, he is a key player at Napoli - who are top of the league - and has notched three goals and two assists in 10 appearances. It seems it was the right move for his career.
