  • Manchester United endured poor season
  • Coaches fee dressing room is too quiet
  • Not enough vocal leaders in squad
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Ten Hag has overseen a disappointing campaign at Old Trafford, with the Red Devils down in eighth place in the table with a negative goal difference. The Dutchman's coaching staff believe one of the reasons for the team's poor performances is a lack of leaders and the loss of Lisandro Martinez to injury, according to The Guardian. The Argentine enjoyed a superb debut campaign last time out but has missed the majority of the current campaign due to a succession of injuries. The dressing room is said to be "much quieter" without Martinez, while his "winning mentality" has been sorely missed.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Martinez is not the only United player who has struggled with injury this season. Key men such as Luke Shaw, Mason Mount, Harry Maguire, Marcus Rashford, Kobbie Mainoo, Anthony Martial and Rasmus Hojlund have all missed significant chunks of the campaign with physical issues. Bruno Fernandes has captained the team but has often been criticised for his on-field theatrics. The Portugal international has still played a key role for the Red Devils but even he succumbed to injury last time out and missed the defeat to Crystal Palace.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Manchester United have conceded 81 goals in all competitions this season, their most in a single campaign since 1976-77.

    WHAT NEXT FOR MAN UTD

Ten Hag's position as Manchester United manager has become uncertain due to his team's poor performances but no decision will be made on whether he will continue until after the FA Cup final against Manchester City. The Red Devils finish their Premier League campaign with games against Arsenal, Newcastle and Brighton.
