Vardy’s influence is not only said to be affecting Van Nistelrooy, but also causing tension with Leicester’s director of football, Jon Rudkin. The club’s decision-making structure is reportedly shifting, with Rudkin’s role becoming increasingly marginalised due to Vardy’s growing power.

Currently sitting 19th in the Premier League, Leicester are facing the prospect of relegation. They have lost five consecutive matches and their struggles have placed Van Nistelrooy in a difficult position. It has been suggested that the former Manchester United striker could be sacked before the end of the season.
