    WHAT HAPPENED?

    Hollywood co-owners at SToK Racecourse have acquired a five per cent stake in Mexican side Necaxa. According to Sportico, a strengthening of ties between the Liga MX team and an ambitious outfit in North Wales has seen a five per cent share in Wrexham change hands.

    A recent filing from Wrexham confirmed that such a stake had been sold, but did not reveal to whom. It is now being claimed that said share has been acquired by NX Football USA. That is where World Cup winner Ozil comes into the equation.

    The former Arsenal and Real Madrid star is an investor in that company alongside actress Eva Longoria, NFL superstar Odell Beckham Jr, model Kate Upton and MLB pitcher Justin Verlander. Ozil, who retired in March 2023, may now have more than a passing interest in how Wrexham are getting on.
