Real Madrid brutally ignore Luka Modric's contract extension plea as club legend set to play farewell game against Real Sociedad

Real Madrid have reportedly ignored club legend Modric’s request for a contract renewal, meaning the upcoming match against Real Sociedad at the Bernabeu could be his final appearance in front of the home crowd. According to Miguel Angel Diaz, speaking on COPE's El Partidazo, Modric will not continue at the club beyond the Club World Cup, with his current deal set to expire on June 30.

Modric was signed by Real Madrid in 2012 when Jose Mourinho was still in charge of the club. Over the years, he has won numerous accolades, including multiple UEFA Champions League titles, La Liga championships, Copa del Rey trophies, and the crowning achievement of his career - the prestigious 2018 Ballon d'Or. A true midfield metronome, Modric orchestrated Real Madrid’s midfield for over a decade and became a firm fan favourite at the Bernabeu.

Modric's tally of six UEFA Champions League titles is the joint-highest by any player in history. He shares this prestigious record with fellow Real Madrid teammates Toni Kroos, Nacho Fernandez, Dani Carvajal, and club legend Paco Gento.
